👆🏻A small hamlet in the village of Six-Fours-Les-Plage, about an hour east of Marseille towards Toulon. It’s adjacent to a small island called île du Petit Gaou which is reachable by footbridge. The surrounding waters are clear and full of sea life to explore (yay mini hermit crabs!). There are a few small bars where you can eat, drink and watch the sunset.

Biggest takeaways from my first ✨solo✨ flight with my infant & toddler 😬:

📌if possible, have your partner get a gate pass so they can help you through security. We flew @southwestair and easily got one at the check in counter!

📌Get a good, compact travel travel and learn how to fold it beforehand 😅. I did none of the above and struggled with our stroller, making the minutes before boarding pretty stressful.

📌People in general are kind and helpful, utilize it! I know there have been some viral moments re:crying babies on planes in the media lately but in my experience that is not the norm and I got asked if I needed any help so many times 🥹

For us this year it’s looking more like we’ll be having a Mediterranean autumn, but we’ve also made lots of wonderful memories in France during the summer!

The crowds and prices are definitely more elevated during the summer months, so sticking to early June or even early September (our favorite time to go!) would be my recommendation 😊

It’s SUPER easy (and cheap) to get to Aix en Provence from Marseille by bus!

I’ve taken the journey several times solo and it’s a great way to spend the day or half a day in Aix and not worry about driving/parking or commuting from the train station.

🚌 Simply head to the Gare St. Charles in Marseille (train station) and take the Ligne 50 bus - you can buy tickets with card or cash on the bus for only 7€ each way. Once you arrive in Aix it is a quick walk to the center!

👉🏻 Also note: the markets in Aix are Tuesday, Thursday & Saturdays 🥖🍇🧀👗🖼️

I was *this* close to backing out last minute because I was nervous to leave my babies, but I am so glad I didn’t! Seeing friends that I’ve known since age 11, reminiscing and laughing over bottles of wine and delicious food, enjoying the perfect weather and beautiful scenery was exactly what this tired stay at home mama needed.

Remember mamas: you can’t fill from an empty cup! So grateful for friendships like these and for family who did an amazing job with the kiddos in my absence 🥰
